The site of the former Grouais de Chicheray quarry, designated a historic monument, has revealed evidence of human presence in the Loir Valley in Vendôme 400,000 years ago. It has preserved the sediments deposited during one of the last ice ages, among the harshest in our history.

It has preserved the sediments deposited during one of the last ice ages, among the harshest in our local history. Let’s explore the long climatic, geological, and human history of the Loir Valley in the Vendée by interpreting the landscape and observing flint tools, not to mention the flora and fauna recently cataloged at the site. This outing is organized as part of European Heritage Days and will be led by Blandine CASSAGNE, Site Curator at the CDPNE
