Discover at your own pace the diversity of the landscapes from the Loir valley to the Perche Vendômois.

Picturesque villages, forests, vineyards and orchards, this region is an ideal area for long hikes.

A word of advice : make sure you have good walking shoes.

Day 1

“We are in June, with four friends we chose the Vallée du Loir for a “hiking” stay.

Day 1: Arrival on Vendôme around 2pm. Deposit of luggage at the hotel.

2:30 PM: here we are! Ready for our first hike in “ Oratoire forest”

In preparation for our stay, we downloaded hiking maps proposed by the Tourist Office of Vendôme – on the IGN hiking portal. It’s super convenient!

Following the route, we enjoyed the peace and quiet; we were able to observe the birds through an ornithological hut. In the evening, we had dinner in a nice little brasserie in Vendôme and were able to contemplate at nightfall the illuminated monuments on the path of light. ”

Day 2

“Suitcases ready, go to Villiers-sur-Loir. In the heart of the vineyard we could contemplate the Valley of the Loir and Rochambeau castel.

After an improvise picnic in Villiers (artificial lake) , we went for a walk along  Thoré-la-Rochette paths. On our 12 km route we were amazed by some curiosities (a dolmen, the multitude of cellars and the steps of the faithful). This is a curious way to get to the church!

We booked in a guest house but before going to dinner, a little detour is required by the cooperative cellar.”

Day 3

“After a large breakfast, go to Lavardin. We chose to make the 2.5kms circuit to allow us to do Trôo in the late morning.

Lavardin “One of the Most Beautiful Villages in France” and the only one in Loir-et-Cher, a beauty! Its church with frescoes, the remains of its castle, the Renaissance house and its alleys without forgetting the Rotte aux Biques!

Arrivals in Trôo “Cave town”, a village both curious and picturesque with its collegiate church, the talking well, the petrifying cave, the Yuccas cellar, the winemaker’s cellar

13:00: lunch break at the Winery (a plate of cold meats, cheese and a sweet). Nothing more local!

3pm: last hike of the day on Montoire and the path of castles. Sights in the city: Musikenfête (museum-show with more than 500 musical instruments from all over the world), the Martellière estate (local winemaker), the cabinet of curiosities, museum of the tile, the chapel Saint Gilles (church with frescoes) but time is short, it is already 6:01 pm!

For a future stay no doubt…

7pm: dinner in a host stay and night in Montoire. ”

Last Day

“Hiking in Couture-sur-Loir then visit Ronsard’s birthplace in the afternoon. We followed the visit with an audio guide. “Cute, let’s see if the rose, which this morning had come off…”

Before going back on the road, stop at the shop of the manor to buy some sweets.

At the end of the stay, we are already driving towards other horizons. Our legs will remember this sporty, cultural stay, without forgetting the gourmet breaks! Sylvie, Marie-Christine, Nadège and Jocelyne – 4 friends on road.
